Etsy Review: JulieVision (+ Giveaway!)

It’s no real secret that I’m a total Etsy fanatic. How can you not be with what feels like millions of unique listings of hand crafted goodies from across the globe? Etsy is like a haven for all those like me: People obsessed with trinkets, antiques, and all things shiny.
Every once in a while I stumble across an awesome etsy shop that provides something really classic and yet unique. It just so happened that a shop keeper of a store that fits that description contacted me last week, letting me know that she would love to provide a product from her shop as a giveaway to my readers.
Enter Julie of JulieVision.

JulieVision is a unique shop on etsy that sells both classic bags as well as fun, funky bags.

My favorite in the shop is her “Lucy, I’m home!” bag, which I seriously CAN. NOT. STOP. Drooling over.

She also carries something for the funky shopper

Something for those who love retro style
(is it lame that I totally adore that this bag is called “Frank Lloyd Wrong”??)

Something for the western lady

And something for the old soul.
(Oh my gosh, I adore the description on this. “[This bag is called] “Oregon Trail”, because if this bag could talk, it would say “Hepseba has dysentery” and “Caulk the wagon and float it.” “)

But aside from her fantastically adorable clutches, Julie also makes the coolest shopper bags, called a Mullet Tote. Yes, you read that right. Mullet. You know… like Captain Planet, Steven Segal, or Billy Ray Cyrus in his “achy break-y heart…” days. …I just don’t think he’d understand…

Annnnnyways…
Her Mullet bag promises Business on the outside and Party on the inside, providing you with a stylish, even professional, bag to carry around, whilst knowing your belongings are partying like it’s 1999 within.
Or in her words “A durable, machine washable tote with business/school/commuter train/airport appropriate outside, and a FREAKIN’ AWESOME inside. It’s like wearing fantastic underpants, only for your bag.”

And since the Mullet Tote is reversible, if your bag is feeling a little like an exhibitionist, you’re free to show off it’s glam inner with a simple flip of your bag.

Now on to your favorite part… Miss Julie has offered us a wonderful CUSTOM Mullet Tote as a giveaway for TFF readers! That’s right, not only can you win an awesome bag, but you get to pick out exactly what you want it to look like!

To enter this contest:

  • WHAT YOU CAN WIN: 1 Custom Mullet Tote from JulieVision
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post and tell us the worst hairstyle you ever had
  • BONUS ENTRIES: Post about the giveaway on facebook, twitter, or your blog then post one comment per shout-out with a link to it. Limit 4 entries per person)
  • GIVEAWAY ENDS: Monday, February 1st at 10pm Central Time
  • HOW MANY PRIZES: One
  • AND AS ALWAYS: Be sure to go visit Julie’s site and scope out her other merchandise.

So get on it, spread the word, enter the contest and be merry.

I’m off to find a way to successfully hint to my husband that THIS needs to be MINE.

(though out this post will be photos of past reconstructions. click on a photo to learn more about the project)

Since we all know that one of my favorite things is reconstructing clothing, I’ve decided to commit to hosting a semi-annual Recon-a-thon. That means in January and July(or August), each year, I’ll host a Recon-A-Thon open to ANYONE that wants to participate.

I’m pleased to announce that the first Recon-A-Thon is just right around the corner and with Spoonflower as the fabulous sponsor for this contest, you can not possibly go wrong!

If you’ve never been to Spoonflower… well, first, Shame on you. Second, go there right now. They are a fabulous up-and-coming website where you can not only order some of the coolest fabrics on the net, you can also… brace yourself… upload your own designs and have them printed to high-quality fabrics for… brace yourself again… LOW prices, with NO minimums! No, I’m not kidding. Yes, I swear on my childhood-pet-goldfish’s grave. The prize for the RaT10 will be a fabulous addition to your fabric stash, from Spoonflower.

So go on, lovely readers. Go dig in your closets and grab out anything you can find that you’ve been wanting to try to recon. I’ll post all the nitty gritty details later, but for the time being, know that you can use up to 2 items from your home/thrift store/corner dumpster (i’m only kidding… sort of), so dig around and set it aside. The rest of the details are coming soon!

If you plan to participate, please grab the button from the right column, and comment on this post with a link to your blog :)

With it being so close to Christmas time, I, like most of you, am swamped with a ridiculously long to do list. We are hosting Christmas at our house, so I have to finish refacing our kitchen cupboards before then. That’s likely the most daunting task on my list. Then you have the smaller things like “make Lily’s cape” and “wrap 2 dozen gifts” or “bake cookie for B’s preschool class”. They aren’t as big and time consuming, but when your list includes 15+ of those “small” tasks, it adds up quickly.

As much as I love the holidays, as the kids get older, I’m more and more ready for them to be over. I loved when they were babies and all I had to do was wrap a few rattles and be done with it. It’s so much more involved now with 2 kids, and having to be extra stealth so they don’t see their gifts. Plus I love to fit in all the extras like photos with santa, adopting an angel off the angel tree, and driving around to see Christmas lights about 42 times ;)

All that to say, I could use a break. And some pampering. And a break.

I bet you could too.

This week I’m giving away an “at-home pampering kit”.

It comes in this fancy gold bag
giveaway

But what’s in it is so much better than the bag.
Hydrating Foot Cream

and I guess we’ll throw in some Body Scrub

How about a little Lip balm?

Or are you more of a Lip Gloss kinda gal?

And I guess some Body Butter would be good too.

It doesn’t get a whole lot better than that, now does it?

I got the girls a tree trunk fairy doll house. Super cute! My dh always goes out on Christmas Eve and tries to outdo me. We’ll see what he comes up with this year.

Well, Amy, keep these dolls a secret, and maybe you can use them as extra ammo on Christmas morning when your hubby tries to outdo you. LOL! Merry Christmas!

dolls

As most of you know, I’m spending several nights a week assembling a dollhouse for Miss Lily. It’s taking FOREVER but I love it more and more as it get closer to completion.

In my quest for cute dolls and furniture for her house, I came across the Melissa and Doug Victorian Dollhouse Dolls and loved them. There is no shortage of dollhouse dolls available online, but some of them look… *ahem* questionable to say the least. ;)

Since I loved these Dolls and I have a set that Lily will be digging out from under the tree on Christmas morning, I wanted to offer an additional set on here as a giveaway. They would be a great addition to your Christmas loot, or even to gift to a friends child, or family member who would enjoy them.dollsTo Enter: LIMIT 2 ENTRIES PER PERSON. Comment once on the blog post answering the following question:
“What gift have you purchased that you expect to be the *biggest* hit to your kids?”
BONUS ENTRY: You can get a 2nd, bonus, entry by grabbing the TFF button from the right column and adding it to your blog. Once it’s there, come back to TFF and make a 2nd comment with nothing but your blog URL in the body of the message.  This will total two comments from you (one answering the question, one with your blog link), therefore 2 entries.
All entries must be posted to the blog comments section no later than midnight on  Thursday, December 10th (Central time)

Good luck!
